Tao of Trauma

Tao of Trauma focuses on bodily sensations and sensory experiences, rather than verbal recounting of traumatic events. Chelsea offers physical contact through the screen of telemedicine in addition to mindfulness to help clients embody somatic awareness and restore balance within their nervous systems. This holistic approach not only aims to alleviate symptoms but also fosters personal growth, secure attachments, and self-care practices.

Tao of Trauma has been approved for 70 continuing education credits through the New Hampshire and Vermont Board of Social Workers. The method was inspired by the teachings of Aliane Duncan, licensed acupuncturist and somatic experiencing practitioner.

Sessions are tailored to individual needs and prioritize client autonomy. They involve establishing consent, exploring bodily sensations, and gradually expanding the client's capacity to manage stress in a safe and supportive environment. The goal is to help individuals reconnect with their bodies, complete interrupted self-protective responses, and cultivate resilience and self-awareness.
